About L’Esperance Tile Works

Founded in 1979 by master artisan Linda Ellet, L’Esperance Tile Works has been dedicated to the timeless craft of handmade decorative tiles for more than four decades. From its workshop in Rock City Falls, New York, the studio became known for its exquisite historic fireplaces, decorative relief tiles, and custom inlaid and encaustic designs that honor centuries-old traditions while embracing artistic innovation.

After Linda’s passing, her husband Don Shore lovingly carried on the business, ensuring that her artistry and vision continue to inspire. Today, the workshop remains a vibrant creative space, welcoming visiting artists to carry forward the spirit of craftsmanship that has defined L’Esperance Tile Works from the very beginning.

Whether restoring a historic hearth, creating a custom commission, or crafting tiles that become heirlooms in their own right, our mission is the same: to recreate history, one tile at a time.
